Do any of you sell curley maple purf. I think the subtle figure for all the 'white' purfling is very elegant.

Hey Bob,

I have maple purfs, I think they are .020 or so. I am not sure if they are curly but being that figured wood is used to produce this stuff I suspect they are.

I like to use curly veneer when making my own purfs - the 20 thou is somewhat visible, depending on the light angle, subtle but there, and thats with fairly figured stock - at 10 thou I doubt you would see much curl. You need to get up to about the 40 thou range for it to be really visible. It is neat thou when you use say a maple/colour/maple scheme, and use flitched veneer sheets to make it - the curl lines match up across whatever the middle veneer is, and it can be seen again in the right light angles.

Hi Bob,

I have .030 (I measured it and is more like .027) that has curl in it and then I have double length maple that .020 by .2 that really does not have much curl at all to it. That's it for now. I can get 10 and 20 thou that is curly but it will be about 6 weeks.

Thanks

Shane

With strong curl it will show at .020". But you need to cut it from the flatsawn part of a veneer sheet, so it shows on edge. Really tight curl is a big plus for this.
